updating...

ok...wednesday was my birthday, i'm 22, I feel older and wiser:) haha.  All of my closest friends came to see me here at western to have dinner and go to the bar.  People kept on buying me double-shots, so it was a slop-fest, let me tell you...but it was fun, dancing the night away with my girlfriends <3.  It was my best birthday yet!  I even got some phone calls and text messages from some of the people I met in Korea, which was amazing.  I talked to my friends Sung & Jonko, from Belgium, since I finally got international calling on me cell, probably the best thing ever, i love it!  I miss everyone so much, and i'm slowly but surely making plans to go to Belgium over spring break, maybe Christmas break, I hope to see Elin in Norway too.  Not a day goes by where I don't think of these amazing people I met in Korea, I love them so much, such a strong choice of words, but I do, I wish I had a million dollars so I could give them each money to travel and visit eachother regularly!  My friend Bethany Lee sent me a cd with video clips of all of us talking, and songs, and pictures, and I was so touched, i cried, it was so good to see everyone's faces, other than in pictures, and hear their voices, one of the best presents i've ever gotten, i absolutely loved it! I have yet to write to my birth-mother, which i'm scared about it, but the words will come i guess, i keep contemplating my words in my mind over and over.

I keep getting more stuff in the mail from UC, (Univ. of Colorado), for grad. school, and i'm getting more and more stoked about it, I think my big bro has already started making connections for me and entering me into competitions,  i have this laundry-list of people he wants me to meet.  haha what a punk, he can't wait for me to move out west, and i can't wait either, its like my second home.  ahhh the mountains:)  I have a looong list of stuff to do beforehand though, June couldn't come sooner.  I think I might try to sell my board though after training, i'm on a ladies Burton, right now, in great shape, if anybody is interested, i don't know though, i might not be able to part with it....haha...

on the home-front, western starts on September 5th, and i'm just chillin' in the mean time, hanging out with the roomies has been fun, its Ingrid's 21st next wednesday, and we're getting a limo for her, ssshhh its a secret, haha:)  i can't wait, she's my true partner in crime when we go out, and a cute korean at that! haha!  I'm looking foward to school though  its going to be hectic and busy busy busy.  i'm almost done and outta here though!

ok take care! and until next time....

Ok I was finally inspired to write a new entry,  (thanks Gregor)!  I haven't written in the past year or so.  I've been reminiscing with everyone that went to Korea with me this past month.  Its been so fun to email and talk to people online and keep in touch.  There were only three girls out of 20 total in the group who got the chance to meet their birth parents.  I was one of the lucky ones, and met my birthmother, aunt, and uncle.

We look a lot like, and I have been so blessed to have had the chance to meet her.  It was the most emotional three days of my entire life, and it was so unexpected, not believing that there would be enough information in my file to maintain a contact.  However, I'll never forget my file review session with my case worker, she sat me down and started going through some of the information that I had already known, (what i expected) but then went through the schedule for the next couple of days, and paused, then said "but you have different plans" I was confused, and then she went on by saying that they had contacted my uncle, which is enough for me, I totally lost it and started crying, I was so happy.  I totally gasped.  She started laughing because she was so happy for me, and went on to tell me that my uncle had contacted my mother, and that she was doing well and could hardly believe that I had come back to Korea, especially at such a young age, but that she would be there as well to meet me at the agency in the next couple of days.  ahhhhh, what a journey.

Elin, a girl from Norway, and Holly from Deleware, both met their mother and father, Holly had a little sister.  The three of us bonded quite a bit, sharing feelings, stories, and ironically were so much of the same feelings and reactions, so it was nice to have that support there.  Now, we're all at home, realizing that things arn't the same, and are preparing to write letters to Korea to our families.  It will be a process since we have to first send them to a translator, though all three of us are determined to learn Korean, for the next trip, HOME.  what a thing to call Korea, home...I never could have imagined a better trip.  Though now I am dealing with some concerns with my parents, especially my mom, about me keeping in contact with my birthmother.  those feelings are pretty difficult to put into words, but I will have to deal with them as I go.

I learned that I have 3 younger siblings....yes! I'm the oldest! haha.  here in the states i'm the youngest of 3, having two older brothers.  But in Korea, I have two lil sisters, 18, 16, and a lil brother, 12.  I'm not sure if that is in Korean years or not, I need to ask about that.  Lets see, I could go on and on about my trip, so i'll stop now, since that is just the beginning.  In the mean time, i love hearing from everyone from the trip, and have grown so close to all  of them, like brothers and sisters.  I'll return to Korea, hopefully very soon.

In the meantime, school is my number one priority, i'm actually looking foward to cooler weather, and walking on campus again, and football games, though within the first week i'll change my mind.  one more year...then off to Colorado for graduate school...wooo hooo!  I'll be closer to my brother, who is the best, i can't wait!  This year should be an amazing year, I hope to be the biggest socialite this year, visit lots of friends on the weekends and hibernate and study during the week, the library is soon to be my second home:)

Hopefully i'll write again sooner than later, or as my schedule allows me to :) miss everyone and hope to catch up soon:)  xoxo  - christine
